the couple

Although we may have crossed paths during summer school around 6th grade, we did not "officially" meet until our college years at Rutgers University. We've learned over the course of our relationship that we come from very different backgrounds and possess very different personalities. From cooking to crafting to communication to car maintenance, we've learned that God has blessed both of us with unique but complementing gifts and flaws. Though it has not always been easy, God's grace has been sufficient and we have learned to love each other and be thankful even when it is difficult.

Tiffany put it well in one of her blog posts, "You would think that Eric and I make a great creative team since we both love to design and build. And we are...when we aren't working on the same task at the same time. ;P You know creative minds -- we're always particular and opinionated. I've learned that the best way for us to seamlessly work together is by dividing up tasks, working separately, and building trust and confidence in the other's abilities.

"When I flip through a lifestyle magazine, I always chuckle when I come across a photo of a couple smiling and laughing while mixing a bowl of cookie dough together because I think of how wonderfully different Eric and I are from the couple in the photo. When it comes to our creative sides, we're both serious, intense, driven, and wildly passionate. And while we both shoot for the sky, we expect more of each other than vocational success.

"I can't even begin to describe how hard Eric and I work on our relationship daily and needless to say, we've gone through our more-than-fair share of disappointments and obstacles. But the wonderful thing is that, thanks to God's amazing grace, through our failed attempts and disappointments comes God's clarity, and through clarity comes conviction of the heart...I'm so thankful for how deeply we've grown together and how truly original we are as a couple."

Inscribed on the inside of Tiffany's engagement ring is the reference to Colossians 3:11-17. Eric chose this passage because it reminded him not only of all the things he is called to pursue, but also of how deeply inadequate he is without Christ. We're continually amazed to see how God is using both of us to reveal deep sin in each of our lives and thankful that through God's grace and mercy, He is teaching us to not only trust each other, but in His sovereignty.

Each and everyone of you has played an important role in our lives and we're excited for all of you to celebrate with us as we continue in our journey of sanctification in Christ!

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
